The Resident celebrates our graduates. Hats off to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, on its 128th Commencement Ceremony graduating 225 cadets. The Honorable Janet Napolitano, Secretary, Department of Homeland Security, gave the commencement address, stating, “…You will face a dynamic, ever-changing threat environment and there has never been a greater demand [...] This region of ours has much to offer both tourists and local residents. We have magnificent tourism attractions, hotels and inns, restaurants, museums, galleries and theaters. Professor Howard C. Dunn, Jr. retired September 5 as the head of the department of engineering and as an instructor after 30 years of distinguished service at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Howard served the Academy in several positions, taught numerous classes and received many awards.
