WITH SPECIAL PROGRAMMING

(Groton, Conn.) – The Groton Senior Center is getting ready for a busy schedule of events celebrating Active Aging Week, September 22-27. Throughout the week, the Senior Center will host a variety of programs, presentations and workshops related to active aging here in our community, such as AARP Driver Safety, Medicare Made Simple, Training with an Injury, and Installing and Using Skype. The week concludes on Saturday, September 27, with a special guided hike through Pequot Woods, one of Groton’s public trails, to celebrate National Public Lands Day. A complete schedule of events is available at GrotonRec.com/Seniors.

Active Aging Week, designated by the International Council on Active Aging, is an annual health promotion held during the last week of September. The weeklong observance celebrates seniors as fully participating members of society and promotes the benefits of leading an active, healthier lifestyle. It also highlights the ability of older adults to live well, regardless of age or health conditions.
