story & photo Stonington High School’s football field was electrified on Thursday night, and for a good cause. The “Dream Come True” concert was held to benefit the Make-A-Wish foundation, an organization that fulfills the dreams of children with serious illness. Stealing Jane, a pop/rock band from Glen Cove, NY headlined the show, and shared the stage with two local bands. Opening bands Backup Plan and Steve Irwin & the Stingrays hyped up the atmosphere and got the crowd going. “We’re just a band who likes to see people dance,” stated Dylan Rigolini, drummer for Steve Irwin, “It’s pretty sweet to be playing with [Stealing Jane], they’ve been on stage with some pretty big bands.” As the sun set over Stonington High, Stealing Jane took the stage, and began to work the crowd. Their upbeat drum rhythms, paired with guitars and various horns, created a toe-tapping sound that energized the field. Aside from dancing, the crowd played Frisbee, passed footballs, and kicked soccer balls around the field. The liveliness of the music, and the activity of the crowd really helped to make the concert an evening well spent. In an interview with the band after the concert they said, “We had a great time at Stonington. It was nice to see so many people out on a Thursday night enjoying the bands, playing soccer, tossing the frisbee around and just having a good time.” Go to the official Stealing Jane website for more band information www.stealingjane.com.
