Discover Groton at the Eighth Annual Fall Festival Fun Events

Columbus may have discovered America, but it’s time for you and your family to discover Groton’s Eighth Annual Fall Festival, scheduled for Saturday, October 12. This special community event is hosted by the Groton Business Association (GBA) of the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce. and runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.
The Festival site at Poquonnock Plains Park at 150 Fort Hill Road showcases the skills of artists and crafters who displaying their skill and wares for admiration—and purchase. A host of businesses and organizations will have exhibits that underscore community contributions. Festival funds are used throughout the year to support GBA events, including Groton’s Annual Holiday Lights Parade in December.
The entire festival site is a circus of entertainment. Featured will be the Life Star Helicopter in the center ring, while children’s entertainer, Steve Elci, and Kidsploration will occupy a ring of listening pleasure for kids who gather in the playground.
Groton’s Fire Departments will celebrate Fire Prevention Week 2013 with special displays, exhibits, and vehicles.
In addition to Kidsploration, guitarist Lou Manzi, April’s Balloons, and Simply Enchanted will enteriatin, and Gabriele’s Martial Arts will demostrate their ancient artform.
The GBA recognize the companies who have committed to be a sponsor for this year’s event: Groton Utilities, Groton Parks and Recreation Department, Cumulus Media–Q105, Chelsea Groton Bank, Liberty Bank, the Savings Institute, Country Glen & Lighthouse Shopping Center, Comcast, the Groton Shopping Plaza, and Thames Valley Communications.
