Cardinal Honda in Groton, under the leadership of Stan Cardinal, is well known in the community for its generosity. On Tuesday, September 4, Cardinal received an award from Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut in Norwich for its generous donations.
The award was bestowed to Stan by Denise Hawk, Annual Giving and Special Events Manager, and Jeffrey Nelson, Director of Community Development, Hospice of SE CT.
“We all know someone who has needed the support of Hospice at one time or another,” Stan said. “We are happy and honored to help this organization that does so much for people in our community.”
Although many in our area know what a great company Cardinal Honda is, fewer know that Cardinal has established a charitable foundation. The Cardinal Foundation supports as many worthy organizations in Southeastern Connecticut as its funds will allow. “People just need to go on our website, www.cardinalhonda.com, and click on ‘Cardinal Foundation,’” Stan explained. “They can contact us with their needs. At the beginning of every year, we have a board meeting and look at the requests we’ve received, and decide how to allocate funds.”
Cardinal’s employees are very community minded because Stan is such a wonderful inspiration, points out Bernadette Drennen, Cardinal Honda’s Business Development Director. “They help raise funds for local food pantries, participate in breast cancer walks, and give to other needs as well,” she said. “We are all motivated by Mr. Cardinal to do good in the community. We are all a reflection of the good stuff that is done here.”
Another way Cardinal Honda those its generosity is through its Flag Program. Any person of organization that wishes to borrow an American Flag may do so with a simple request. Recently, one of the largest flags was used in a 9/11 memorial ceremony in New York City.
