Hi, friends—

Since 2007, I have been involved with American Warrior, an organization which takes WWII veterans to view their memorial in Washington , DC (built 60 years after the end of the war) at no cost to them.  Each one-day trip, which involves chartered planes and buses, food, personalized T-shirts, etc. for 100 veterans, costs approximately $42,000. The 40 guardians who accompany and care for the veterans each pay $300 for this privilege.  The remainder of the cost is covered by donations, fund-raisers and grants.  Everyone involved in American Warrior is a volunteer; there are no paid positions.

We are fortunate, after months of trying, to be included in this month’s Pepsi Refresh Project.  Unfortunately, we were not aware of this until August 6th;  consequently, we lost much valuable voting time.  We have applied for a $25,000 Community grant, which will be awarded to the 15 top-ranked applicants in this category.  (We are currently #37.)  Winning this would assure that we could fund another trip in Spring, 2012.  (Our 7th trip is scheduled for September, 24, 2011.)  Time is growing short for these veterans, whose age now averages in the late 80’s, and we still have hundreds on our waiting list.

Please help us by voting every day throughout August.  Enrollment is easy;  simply go to http://www.refresheverything.com/americanwarrior, enter an e-mail address and password, then confirm these when Pepsi responds with an e-mail.  You may also register through our website:  www.americanwarrior.us.  Voting may also be done through Facebook or by texting.  Additionally, specially-marked Pepsi products allow extra votes.

Thank you to everyone who responds to this request.  Your help is greatly appreciated by American Warrior!

Adair

P.S.  To learn more about us, view pictures of our 6 trips to date, etc. please visit our website (above).
