Mudheads Race for Hospice SECT

Wild Horses taking the lead during the Mystic River Mudhead Association’s Third Annual Hospice Regatta.

On Saturday, July 17th, the Third Annual Mudhead Benefit Cup for Hospice SECT raised an estimated $45,000. During the day, 63 boats ranging from 21 to 42 feet, raced on Fisher’s Island Sound. The event also included three racing circles from Stonington to Groton.

Trophies were awarded to 30 skippers in 10 classes. First Place went to Wild Horses, Leda, SnowBird, Zig Zag Zoom, and SeTherin were the PHRF winners in Classes One-Five, respectively. Bonanza took first place in Ensign 6 class, Splashdance in CC7, Windsong in CC8, Skean Dhu Saluck in Shields Class 9, and Wunder Dog in J-24 Class 10.

Following the races, the Mega Party kicked off under the Sperry Tent at Mystic Shipyard. Rock n’ Soul Revue entertained over 550 party goers as they danced the night away.

Food, provided by 20 Mystic area restaurants, free-flowing rum and over adozen raffle prizes completed the night. Mike Cavanaugh, Crystal Slipper, won a 60 foot slip at Seaport Marine in the live auction
