Luke Marcek, Gales Ferry, is a junior at the University of Maine majoring in Forest Operations Science and is the recipient of the Ledyard Garden Club $1500 scholarship. The scholarship is given to a post-secondary student pursuing a major in horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, forestry, botany, plant pathology, land management and other fields benefiting the environment. Luke is working this summer for Seven Island Land Company in northern Maine doing forestry work and he is also very involved on the Woodsman Team at UMaine and excels at the “Disc Stack” event.
