Bluegrass Music Festival to be a Food-raiser

(l-r) Eight Mile River, a traditional style bluegrass band, featuring special guest Marsh Dubaldo, mandolin & vocals, with Salem musician Tom Vernon, lead vocalist, Don Erbanik, five string Banjo, and Bill Hawthorne, upright bass, will take the stage at 4pm on June 13 at the Sterling Park Campground.

The local favorite Eight Mile River band, based in Salem, will join seven other bands performing at a day-long gospel bluegrass music festival on June 13 to help stock the Food Pantry at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Willimantic.  If you enjoy beautiful vocal harmonies, you will surely like this free music festival presented at the Sterling Park Campground, 177 Gibson Hill Road in Sterling. The event is a food-raiser and attendees are encouraged to bring along non-perishable food items to donate to the Pantry.  A truck will be on site at the festival to accept food donations.
There is no admission charge or parking fee. It’s an outdoor event so bring a chair or blanket.  The snack bar will be open all day and those with instruments can join impromptu picking groups in the campground. There will also be an open mic at 10am for anyone who wants to perform for the early audience.  For more info call 860.455.9400.
