On Saturday, April 24, The Arc of New London County held their third annual Pirate Party fundraiser at the Mystic Art Center. The evening, catered by East Coast Catering, New London, included pirate costumes, silent and live auctions and entertainment by the popular acoustic duo Boat Cake, the Ancient Mariners and Free Men of the Sea. All proceeds raised at the event will support The Arc’s Respite, Recreation and Camp Harkness programs.

Recently, the Connecticut Sun organization and The Arc announced their partnership to boost public awareness of disability issues and to advocate for full inclusion of those with intellectual and related disabilities. To kick-off the new partnership, CT Sun players and Blaze the Mascot did a “meet and greet” at the Pirate Party. In addition, the Sun organization provided memorabilia for the party’s silent auction. The CT Sun, along with the Mohegan Tribe and Chelsea Groton Savings Bank, were “Captain” sponsors of the event.
