Diana Edmond, Senior Events Manager, Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa in Groton, was recently honored by Marriott International with the North America 2009 Leader of the Year Award. Edmond was previously recognized as the 2009 Event Management Leader of the Year by the Eastern Region of Marriott’s North American Lodging Operations (NALO) division, and was chosen for this additional national recognition from a pool of other regional winners. The 285-room Mystic Marriott is professionally managed by Waterford Hotel Group, a national hotel management firm operating 25 properties in nine states.
The Marriott Leadership Awards are given to Marriott associates who possess strong leadership qualities and the ability to work well with a team. They must also demonstrate their impact on improved customer satisfaction, revenue and profit, and their ability to develop creative, out-of-the box solutions to customer requests.
Diana, who worked at the Mystic Marriott for eight years, was chosen by Marriott as an industry leader because of her passionate, steady demeanor and her proactive approach to maintaining customer satisfaction. “Diana’s ability to retain clients and drive repeat business opportunities is unmatched,” commented Michael Allen, General Manager, Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa. “No task is too small to ensure her clients are satisfied, and her team consistently receives rave reviews. Diana has a degree in Hotel Restaurant Management from Paul Smith’s College, NY. She currently resides in New London.
