PianoWorks announces an exciting new season -- opening with the world-famous piano trio Triple Helix on Sunday, September 20 at 4 pm. Violinist Bayla Keyes, cellist Rhonda Rider, and pianist Lois Shapiro will perform brilliant and memorable works. Performances all take place at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 19 Jay Street, New London. Tickets will be available at the door, or reserved by calling 860.857.2217 or by email at PianoWorks@ct.metrocast.net.

Most of those attending the town’s second annual Renaissance Festival in Jewett City on Aug. 15 were there to partake of a fun summer afternoon. But some people were at Veterans Memorial Park selling clothing styled after the fashions of a bygone millennium while others were wearing colorful garb straight from the days of knights and castles.

The costumes which drew the most attention were those worn by a traveling troupe of thespians mounted on horseback, re-creating jousting matches and sword fights from days of olde.

Acme Wire Products Co., Inc., a Mystic custom fabricator, donated Xenith X1 football helmets to Stonington High School. Acme Wire Products manufactures the wire guards used in the helmets.  (l-r) Ed Planeta, Jr., Co-Owner, Acme Wire Products, Robert Everett, Xenith, Coach Massengale, Stonington High School, and Michael Planeta, Co-Owner, Acme Wire Products, show off one of the Xenith X1 helmets that was donated.

The Class of 1971 from St. Joseph’s School in New London will be celebrating their 38th class reunion on Saturday, October 24th, 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. at the Port ‘N Starboard, Ocean Beach Park, New London.  The class reunion committee is searching for graduates of the Class of 1971.
