On Saturday, April 26, the adorable yellow rubber ducks will be released in masses into the river for an amazing race down the Pawcatuck River in the 11th Annual Pawcatuck River Duck Race. Food, fun, and festivities begin at 12:00 p.m. and the ducks start their journey down the river at 2:00 p.m. Spectators are expected to line the streets and shores near downtown Westerly-Pawcatuck for the event that is labeled the largest charitable fundraiser in the two-state region.
Duck sponsorship certificates are available for $5 through the schools or non-profit organization to raise money for their Parent-Teacher Organizations or non-profits. Duck Sponsorship Certificates can also be purchased at local businesses, the Westerly-Pawcatuck Area Chamber of Commerce or the website www.westerlychamber.org.
The grand prize, to be awarded to the first winning duck to cross the finish line, will be a trip for a family of four to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida for one week, including hotel, airfare and park passes. Over 90 additional prizes will be awarded to the winning ducks.
