Professor Howard C. Dunn, Jr. retired September 5 as the head of the department of engineering and as an instructor after 30 years of distinguished service at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
Howard served the Academy in several positions, taught numerous classes and received many awards.
He completed his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University 1964 and 1965.
Howard received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering in 1974 from the Pennsylvania State University.
Howard is a retired lieutenant colonel from the U. S. Army Reserve. He resides in Gales Ferry with his wife Ellen.
