Friends, family, and customers of Pennell’s Auto Center in Uncasville came together on Sunday, July 27th from 12-4 p.m. to celebrate not only a grand opening, but also a surprise wedding! After 17 years, Joe Pennell and Gina Fontaine tied the knot at their unannounced wedding ceremony at the grand opening of their auto center’s new location at 341 Norwich-New London Tpke. (Rt. 32) in Uncasville. Joe and Gina have eight kids between the two of them, all of whom participated in the ribbon cutting.
Rain poured on the day of the event, showering Joe and Gina with good luck. Despite the rain, all in attendance were smiling, laughing, dancing, and pleasantly surprised by the wedding. Great food and music was provided for all to enjoy with a variety of classic summer BBQ foods and 102.3 the Wolf broadcasted live from the event.
Pennell’s Auto Center’s grand opening also served as a fundraising event for the Montville Food Pantry. T-shirts were given to people who brought non-perishable food items. Local businesses provided items and baskets to be raffled off. Businesses who donated include Advanced Auto Parts, Curves of Montville, Friendly’s Pizza, Papoose, NAPA of Waterford, Autopart International, Quaker Hill Package Store, UkLeja’s Tree Farm, Shantok Motors, Café 32, The Barber Shop, Chen’s Buffet, Montville Florist, Montville Discount Liquors, Shear Timing, 102.3 The Wolf, and Chilli’s. All proceeds went to benefit the Montville Food Pantry.
Pennell’s Auto Center is now a State of CT Emissions testing facility, and is certified for emissions repair. Whether you need an oil change, full engine diagnostics, or anything in between, you can contact Joe at Pennell’s Auto Center at 860.848.2400 for help.
