The holidays are here and we have a lot to celebrate! First, Dime Bank kicks off this holiday season with the opening of its new branch inside Shop Rite, New London Mall, 351 North Frontage Road. Now, with two locations in New London, Dime Bank gives the gift of expanded hours to its customers– convenience and new jobs for the local community. See the gift ribbon-cutting on Page 6.
Patience brings rewards to those who wait! The City of Norwich finally gets to share the fruits of their efforts with the public, as the doors opened at the newly restored Wauregan Hotel on November 18. Featuring 70 new apartments and a ballroom, the Wauregan is alive with new tenants and posed to give back life to downtown Norwich. The ballroom, for the first time in more than two decades, hosted a special dinner for members of the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation as part of the grand re-opening. Celebrate on Page 13.
As construction ends at the Wauregan, construction will begin at Mohegan Sun next summer as part of their expansion plan, “Project Horizon.” Unveiled November 16, Mohegan Sun hopes to complete construction of a 43-story hotel by 2010. According to Mohegan Tribal Chairman Bruce “Two Dogs” Bozsum, the expansion will continue to fulfill Chief Uncas’s directive, “that the Mohegans will always look to provide for thirteen generations into the future.” Project Horizon will give jobs to 1,500 hard workers and bring more gaming festivities to the area. Unwrap the plans on Pages 8 & 9!
