Let’s ring in 2006 with voluminous wishes for good health, peace and prosperity! At the top of the good news stories’ list for 2005 is the Hard Rock Cafe’s Tour de Rock. Foxwoods ambassadors, as members of Tour de Rock, biked 2,040 miles this past September, raising money for a new gymnasium at the Waterford Country School. Hats off to bicyclists Jason Heath and Daniel Reilly with their road crew members, Brock Arsenault and Mike Harrelle who peddled from Foxwoods’ Hard Rock Cafe on September 1st to Hard Rock Cafe Key West, arriving on October 1st. The 2006 Economic Forecast Breakfast featuring Nick Perna, economic advisor to Webster Financial Corporation, was a huge success. Nick said that the shock of the early 1990′s was the worst the region experienced since the 1930′s. Now, though, the region is far more diversified thanks to the growth of the Casinos and Pfizer, and thus more resilient to adverse impacts. In the 1990′s the area was 60% dependent on defense while today, it’s 30% reliant on the military and associated industries. More here.
