Driving down Route 165 in Griswold, I see bees buzzing around bright sunflowers near Buttonwood Farms. Duane Button and his family created a buzz when they planted the flowers to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. With 300,000 sunny blooms, the Buttons exceeded their expectations and netted $40,000. Pick flowers on page 7.
The Builders Association of Eastern Connecticut created buzz by holding a special “Past Presidents Night,” honoring Mark Wolman from Wolman Construction, among others. More on page 10.
The buzz about Backus Hospital is that the $50 million expansion, BackusCare, is underway after the groundbreaking ceremony on July 25. With BackusCare, the hospital will remain on the cutting edge of healthcare technology. More buzz on page 5.
The streets of downtown are Mystic already abuzz with tourists anticipating this month’s Outdoor Mystic Art Festival, featured on page 9. Busy weekends await us, with the Mohegan Wigwam Festival, found on page 8.
